In preparation for the launch of season 3 of Netflix’s hit Stranger Things, T-Mobile was looking for a fun and memorable way to maximize their partnership and get fans excited about the July 4th premiere. In an ode to the 80s, BBH LA came to our team with the idea of creating retro-inspired, mobile phone cases based on the iconic Walkie Talkies used by the kids in the show. our team set to work quickly designing and fabricating cases users could attach their phones to in a throwback to the iconic, Realistic TRC-214 devices produced decades ago by Radio Shack and featured extensively in the series.

Pairing the exclusive cases with a WebRTC-powered, push-to-talk web app and packaging them in premium, aged product boxes, we sent these out to the cast, influencers, celebrities, media, and used them as prizes for a social scavenger hunt to let a few lucky fans strap in their phones and take a trip back to the 80s, thanks to T-Mobile and Netflix.
